DENTAL EXAMS AND X-RAYS

DENTAL EXAMS AND X-RAYS in Round Rock, TX

Patients are strongly encouraged to participate in dental check-ups every 6 months. Along with a dental cleaning, a dental exam and x-rays may be performed. These procedures allow Dr. Yoon to maintain your oral health, prevent issues, and detect any early onset problems. Putting off routine cleanings can result in damage to teeth and a costly visit that could have been easily avoided.

What To Expect

First, a visual examination will occur. Dr. Yoon will utilize dental tools during the exam while looking for signs of decaying or cracked teeth, among other things. Some of these dental tools include high-intensity lights and smallmouth mirrors.

It is important to disclose your medical history and medications that are currently being taken. Several medical conditions and/or illnesses can negatively impact your oral health.

The gums and bone surrounding teeth will be assessed for any signs of gum disease.

Oral cancer can occur in the tongue, throat, gums, tissues, lips, neck, and even your face. All of these areas will be checked thoroughly during your exam. Oral cancer like all cancers, can result in loss of life if not detected and treated.

Fillings, crowns, and other restorations may wear or crack over time. Your dentist will make sure they are still intact and in proper condition.

Diagnostic X-Rays

Diagnostic x-rays reveal hidden issues that can not always be detected visually. Although two-yearly check-ups are encouraged, bitewing x-rays are typically only taken once a year. A panographic x-ray revolves around a patient’s head. This kind of x-ray is taken less frequently, every 3-5 years.

I had the best experience at Clearview Dental. I came in for a regular cleaning and found out I had a few cavities. I am a little anxious when visiting the dentist. They were very understanding and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire procedure. They also have the best bedside manner I’ve had at any Dr. Office. The entire staff was friendly and energetic. Overall it was a great experience and I highly recommend making an appointment.

This entire dental office team is amazing! From the moment I walk through the door to the moment I leave, I am treated with professionalism, sincerity and kindness. Each team member I have encountered is top-notch, both friendly and professional. Dr. Nguyen, is without question, the best dentist! She CARES. She is thorough and has high standards— clearly loves what she does— ensuring comfort from start to finish and that her work is done right. I don’t care where I live, I will drive or fly to ensure she remains my dentist. Don’t hesitate for one moment. Pick up the phone and schedule your next dental appointment with Clearview Dental, you will not regret it.

FAQs

A dental examination is basically a check-up for your mouth. It’s a thorough evaluation of your teeth, gums, and other oral tissues to make sure everything is healthy and functioning properly. Dentists and dental hygienists usually perform these exams to look for any dental issues and assess the overall health of your mouth.

A complete dental exam usually includes an evaluation of the teeth, gums, tongue, jaw, and other oral tissues. It may also involve dental x-rays, cleaning, and oral cancer screening. Our dentist may discuss oral hygiene practices and recommend further treatment if necessary.

Yes, dental x-rays are generally safe as they use low levels of radiation, and the risk of any adverse effects is minimal. Protective equipment like lead aprons and collars are used to minimize exposure.

Again, this depends on your dental health needs. Typically, most people should get dental x-rays once a year, but some may need them more frequently depending on their dental history and risk factors for oral health problems.

A full dental exam can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the complexity of the exam and the individual’s dental health needs. It may take longer if dental x-rays or cleaning are included. Also if you have dental anxiety, it may take a little longer.
